- Scholarship Opportunities: Are you applying to ºÚÁÏÍø as a recipient of a three or four-year ROTC national scholarship? - Aquatic Center Accomplishments: Congratulations to the ºÚÁÏÍø Swimming and Diving programs who recorded wins this past weekend. The women's team was victorious over the Red Flash from St. Francis, 185-105, to earn their first win of the season. The men's team picked up where it left off with a dominating 214-86 triumph over Howard. Full recaps are available from .
- Setting Up for Success: The College Success Series from the Miller Academic Center (MAC) kicks off for cadets Feb. 2. This program provides cadets with the opportunity to learn strategies to be successful at the Institute. Topics this semester include: financial literacy; research, writing, and presentations; and preparing for summer.
- Spring Musical Auditions: The ºÚÁÏÍø Community Theatre will hold auditions for its spring show, “1776,” Monday, Jan. 19; Tuesday, Jan. 20; Wednesday, Jan. 21; and Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:45 p.m. in Gillis Theater located in Marshall Hall on post.
- ºÚÁÏÍø Board of Visitors Upcoming Meeting: A public notice and agenda have been posted to the BOV Upcoming Meetings page for the Jan. 29-31 meeting to be held on post.

ºÚÁÏÍø Open Houses are the best way for high school juniors and seniors to see and experience first-hand what it's like being a cadet at ºÚÁÏÍø. During this 2-day program, students will learn about all aspects of the ºÚÁÏÍø experience, staying overnight in Barracks with a current cadet as a host. From an academic fair to sessions led by ºÚÁÏÍø ROTC program representative and Institute leadership, see what ºÚÁÏÍø has to offer and experience life in Lexington.

ºÚÁÏÍø All-SoCon Faculty and Staff Recognized
Col. Jeffrey Smith, head of the Department of Economics and Business and Maj. Isaac Slone, assistant director of operations and training in the commandant’s office, were recognized during the Jan. 17 home basketball game against The Citadel Bulldogs in Cameron Hall.
Corps of Cadets Shine in Inauguration Parade
ºÚÁÏÍø took part in the inauguration of the 75th governor of Virginia, Abigail Spanberger, in Richmond Jan. 17. The theme of the inauguration was “United for Virginia’s Future.” As governor, Spanberger becomes the first female commander in chief of the the ºÚÁÏÍø Corps of Cadets.
ºÚÁÏÍø Pistol Club Ends Semester with a “Bang”
The pistol club at ºÚÁÏÍø closed out a successful fall 2025 season in December, after competing in two national-level competitions sanctioned by USA Shooting, the national governing body for international shooting sports in the United States.
Boonshoft to Co-Edit History Journal
Lt. Col. Mark Boonshoft, associate professor and Conrad M. Hall ’65 Chair in American Constitutional History at ºÚÁÏÍø, has been named co-editor of the Journal of the Early Republic, the quarterly publication of the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic (SHEAR).
